Cattle Dog / Mixed (short coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Baby
Handsome Jack is a very sweet, super smart cattle dog mix who has the best personality ever. He is 3 months old and currently weighs 10.4 pounds. He is very independent and will just sit and chew on a toy without any care if you are there until he wants/needs you. But note, he does love some cuddles, though he is very busy and will probably need to rush back to that toy he’s been playing with. He loves being outside and basking in the sun. He was rescued when he was just 4 weeks old and has been living with a sibling puppy and three adult dogs. He has an incredible appetite and is food motivated which has made training him pretty easy. He is almost fully potty trained (bell trained), and can walk on a leash already - he is getting more comfortable and is good with having a harness on. Did we mention he is super smart? He is playful with other dogs, big and small, he has not been around cats or children as of yet. He has been in the car (in a crate) many times and is very calm and mostly just goes to sleep or looks around, he seems like he will be a great travel buddy! He likes all toys, but we have found that Nylabones are his favorite, but he will play with stuffed animals, balls, string, and just about anything else he is presented with! He sleeps in a crate at night and will go in it at any point willingly. Jack has “sit” and “no” down to the ‘t’ already. He is working on; stay, come, off, and kennel. He is learning commands very quickly and will master them no doubt. He will go into his kennel willingly and recognizes it as safe and a happy place he can be. Since he is a mix that obviously includes cattle dog, we assume that he will be a medium size dog, he have very pronounced cattle dog features. So he may be 30 to 40 pounds full grown. Typically cattle dogs are intelligent dogs who will display boundless energy and need mental stimulation to keep them challenged. So an owner who has an active lifestyle and who likes to work with their dog will be best suited for this breed. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, vet checked and microchipped. His adoption fee is $400 and includes 30 days of complementary pet insurance and a free vet visit. To meet with him, please visit our shelter located at 1102 W Hatcher Rd Phoenix, AZ 85021. We are open Tuesday through Sunday, 11am-6pm. Please understand until further notice there will be 10 clients allowed in the building at once to continue social distancing practices.
