Monkee is a chunky little 17.5 pound, 11 year old Maltese/Lhasa Apso mix. She is very sweet, well behaved, and LOVES to greet everyone with kisses. Monkee knows simple commands including sit and down and is very food motivated--especially with sliced baby carrots as treats. When she first came to her foster home a month ago, she weighed about 20 lbs and tired easily on short walks around the block. However, over time she has come to enjoy exercise and now looks forward to her 2+ mile walks every day and eagerly waits at the door when she knows it's time to go out! While she does have some difficulty jumping on and off the couch/bed, she loves naps of all kinds, especially when she gets to spend them snuggled up next to her humans, eagerly awaiting a nice belly rub. She gets along well with everyone and has lived with children as young as 8 and has done well with children as young as 3. She has also lived with dogs of all sizes and always wants to say hi and play with other dogs while on walks but does not do well with more aggressive dogs. Monkee does great on car rides and in her crate. She is house broken and knows how to use a doggy door. While with AZSDR, Monkee received a dental cleaning and had a total of 11 teeth extracted! She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, vet checked and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $300 which includes a free vet visit.
