Ikia faces the world with a wagging tail and a plucky attitude! He’s the type of dog that never lets any negativity in his life bring him down. He is an 11.5 year old Chihuahua mix who weighs about 10 pounds and is fully grown. Ikia still has plenty of spunk and doesn’t consider himself to be a senior. He enjoys getting out for walks and does well on leash. He gets along with other calm dogs, but wants to meet any other dogs in the home prior to adoption. He has also previously lived with a cat who he just ignored. He can be particular about how he is handled by people - he is happy to jump in your lap for some cuddles on his own terms, but he really doesn’t like being picked up. Because of this, he is looking for an adult only home with people who are respectful of his personal space and allow him to choose when he wants affection. Ikia hasn’t had much stability in his life, having gone from one home to the county shelter, then to another home and finally to us. Along the way he developed some masses which were removed. We had a biopsy done on the mass removed after he came to us, and it turns out he had hemangiosarcoma. Luckily it was removed, and he is now ready to find his forever home. He will need to limit his sun exposure in the future to avoid potential reoccurrence, by sticking to the shade or wearing stylish shirts when outside.  He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, licensed, and vet checked. His adoption fee is $180 and comes with a complimentary vet visit.
