Zeus Zeus, now Fiver (pronounced like the number five, named after a character in my favorite book, Watership Down), is doing wonderful! He loves all manners of fluffy beds, fuzzy blankets, and chasing after anything that moves. He LOVES playing frisbee outside, getting out those zoomies, and playing fetch with his toys indoors. He's great at bringing them back (without distractions, haha). He loves everyone he meets including people and dogs. I was warned he is an escape artist, and that has turned out to be true. I've secured the yard (twice), and we are working with a trainer on not running out the door and calmly getting into the car, and not running at people and dogs in public (he just so badly wants to play!!). :) He was having some pretty bad reverse sneezing attacks when I first brought him home. My vet didn't think he had kennel cough, but maybe an upper respiratory infection or allergies, so we put him on antibiotics and antihistamines for a couple weeks and it seems to be helping.
He is learning quickly and already knows his name, sit, down, off, and wait (which we're still working on). He's eating great. He does great in his kennel. His papers said he had separation anxiety, but the trainer and I don't really think he does. He sometimes likes to get into things when he's bored, so we are working on redirecting.
I sent off for a DNA test to see if we can pinpoint his breed mix, and anxiously awaiting results!
All in all I hit the jackpot with Fiver as a rescue. He's an amazing dog. As my first rescue, I didn't know what to expect, especially with the "stigma" surrounding rescue dogs. But after meeting enough people who had rescued and hearing their positive experiences, I'm so glad I chose to get a rescue. I just love him so much!
Attached are a few random photos I've taken of him!
Thanks again!
